People and pets come together to 'walk-for-the-animals'
Article Launched: 04/26/2007 06:38:18 PM PDT
Bring your dog, cat, rabbit, iguana, or any other leash-trained "best friend," or just yourself, to walk for the animals on May 19 at the Arrowhead Credit Union Park, Home of the Inland Empire 66ers.
Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and fun and festivities last until noon.
Join the Humane Society and our Honorary MC, KFRG's own "Heather Froglear" for some fun in the sun. In addition to the walk, activities include more than 25 vendors in the vendor village, Animals from Wild Haven, caricatures, pet photos, pet contests, raffles and fun for the kids that include a bounce house to name a few. Pet identification tags will be available at a nominal cost and will be made on site. You and your pet not only get to exercise and have fun together, but you will help the Humane Society as well. So bring your special, unique, and best-behaved pal out for a day of fun!
The Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to protect animals through legislation, education and sterilization. Our two programs that will benefit from the Walk are supported entirely by community donations. Your participation will ensure that we can continue providing a credentialed teacher to visit all K-6 grade classrooms in the San Bernardino City Unified School District teaching kindness, compassion, and respect for all living beings, and a state appointed cruelty investigator to help animals who are victims of abuse and neglect.
Walk sponsors include Arrowhead Credit Union, Ralph's, KFRG, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Morongo Band of Mission Indians, the Sun, the 66ers, Petco and the Petco Foundation. To sign up for the Walk and get your pledge form, visit us on line at www.hssbv.org, or call the Humane Society at 909-386-1400, Ext. 224.
