Ken Facer Honored with Callahan Award

San Dimas, Calif.,—(June 6, 2008)—Financial Service Centers Cooperative, Inc. (FSCC), Ken Facer, Executive Vice President of Arrowhead Credit Union in San Bernardino, California, was named the 2008 Callahan Award winner by Financial Service Centers Cooperative, Inc., (FSCC). Mr. Facer was presented with the award during his retirement party on June 5 in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
 
“Ken has been a tireless advocate for credit union shared branching. He backed up his passion and enthusiasm for shared branching by ensuring its success at his own credit union.  The Credit Union Movement is better for having Ken Facer and shared branching,” says Sarah Canepa Bang, President/CEO, FSCC. “We are thrilled to present him with this award and forever grateful for his dedication.”
 
“I could always count on Ken, to make presentations, gather data, and provide encouragement,” says Bonnie Kramer, EVP/COO, FSCC. “Ken helped FSCC get through the rough early years when people didn’t believe shared branching could work.  Ken’s dedication was a gift to the future of shared branching.”
 
Mr. Facer has been with Arrowhead Credit Union for over 20 years and continues to be active in the credit union industry. He served as District 15 delegate to the California Credit Union League's Assembly of Delegates and on the Board of Governors for the Tri-County Chapter of the League.  He also served on the Board of Directors for Western Corporate Federal Credit Union (WesCorp) and one of its subsidiaries, WesCorp Capital Corporation (WesCap). In addition, Mr. Facer has been on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association for Western CUNA Management School since he graduated in 1987.
 
The Callahan award is given annually to an individual whose dedication to FSCC has helped expand the reach of shared branching. The Callahan award is named for Edgar Callahan, past Chairman of FSCC, passionate advocate for credit union shared branching, and former CEO of Patelco Credit Union.
 
Past winners of the Callahan award include Ed Callahan (Patelco CU), Ted Dennis (Point Loma FCU), Andy Hunter (Patelco CU), Carl Stewart (Water and Power Community FCU), and Tom Stewart (Western CU).
